Assignment Brief

Read, reflect and respond to the assigned readings. Strive to make original observations useful for class discussion. Your written response should demonstrate your capacity for critical thought.

Objectives

• To demonstrate honest critical thought
• To refine writing and proofreading skills
• To clearly articulate thoughts and ideas in written form

Specifications

1. One B/W single-sided US Letter page
2. Support your response with at least one quote from the assigned reading or another source
3. Cite quotes using MLA or Chicago style
4. Proofread and spellcheck
5. Professionally typeset using InDesign

Final Deliverables

Be ready to hand in your response paper at the beginning of class. Late work will not be accepted.

Response Paper: One printed B/W single-sided page articulating your response to the assigned reading in preparation for our class discussion.

Timeline

Project hours: 4
One week of the semester is assigned to complete this response paper. Late work will not be accepted. No redos allowed. See semester schedule for deadlines.

Week One

Read: Thoroughly digest the reading. Highlight the main concepts and facts of interest. Read again.

Reflect: Contemplate the main concepts and author conclusions. Reflect and ask yourself a few questions.

• How do you feel about the reading?
• What do you think about the reading?
• Do you agree or disagree?
• Do you have an idea or opinion to share?

Respond: Draw at least one conclusion and clearly articulate your reasoning. Run spellcheck. Proofread several times before printing.
