Assignment Brief
Find and document a variety of typography from a specific location. Using your best samples create an interesting moodboard centered on a single clear theme.

- To appreciate the varied and ubiquitous use of typography
- To create style and communication through consistent choices
- To explore visual hierarchy through the use of scale and the grid

- RGB images compressed to 150dpi
Final Deliverables
Be ready to present your moodboard on-screen at the beginning of class. Late work will not be accepted or critiqued. Save your moodboard to the AVC server using your full name as the filename.

Project hours: 8
Two weeks of the semester are assigned to complete this creative challenge. Late work will not be accepted or critiqued. No redos allowed. See semester schedule for deadlines.
Week One
Research & ideation: First think of interesting locations and potential themes based on a location’s found typography. Document all typographic occurrences. Both the good and bad.
Idea exploration: Explore a variety of moodboard compositions which clearly communicate your theme. Thumbnail first before using a computer. Establish visual hierarchy using the predefined grid provided. Make grid usage obvious. Create a focal point of interest.
Week Two
Refinement & Presentation: Refine the visual hierarchy paying special attention to image scale and cropping. Watch the edges of your image boxes. Proof and export a PDF for on-screen presentation and class discussion.
